Ukraine Visa Scheme latest updates
We have important information for those who stay in the UK under the Ukrainian Visa Scheme:
- The Ukraine Family Scheme program was closed on 02/19/2024.
- The Ukraine Extension Scheme program closed on 05/16/2024 as well for individuals, who had permission to stay in the UK between 03/18/2022 and 11/16/2023, or the permit expired after 01.01.2022.
The program will stay open after 05/16/2024 for children born in the UK.
You can apply for the Ukraine Extension Scheme for your child if he/she was born in England after 03/18/2022 and if the conditions are met:
- You have permission to stay in the UK under one of the Ukrainian Schemes, including the Ukraine Family Scheme.
- You are eligible to participate in the Ukraine Extension Scheme.
If your child was born in the UK and you apply for the Ukraine Extension Scheme for him/her, then you, as the child’s parents, also switch to this scheme.
For other individuals from Ukraine currently there is only one Ukrainian Sponsorship Scheme left – this is Homes for Ukraine, which requires the presence of a sponsor from the UK for at least 6 months and is open to citizens of Ukraine and their loved ones.
Standard requirements for this scheme:
- You must proof that you were living in Ukraine before 01/01/2022.
- This scheme can only be applied from outside the UK.
- You need to find a sponsor in the UK.
The requirements for sponsors have become tougher:
- Sponsors must be British or Irish citizens.
- Have a British passport, it means a permanent residence permit, or the equivalent of Settled status under the European Scheme, or ILR – Indefinite Leave to Remain.
If the sponsor has a Pre-Settled status, then he/she is not suitable!
The main news is that all Ukrainian schemes will be extended for another 18 months, but this is starting from 2025.
If you want to switch to other schemes while staying in the UK, please contact us and we will help you choose the scheme which suits for you. Such schemes may include Skilled Worker Visa routes for health and care workers, IT-specialists, or others.
